Customizing Adtoniq for Large Publishers

By default, Adtoniq automatically traffics its own hidden ad unit on every page as part of its internal ad block detection algorithm.  We provide this service at no charge up to 5M page views per month. Beyond that, we ask publishers to do a few things:

  1. Traffic a special, hidden ad unit in DoubleClick that Adtoniq will use for ad block detection. Adtoniq code will attempt to perform one impression of this ad unit per page view. If the ad unit loads, we know there is no ad blocker. In your DoubleClick account, you will record one impression per non-blocked page view.
  2. Set up a new Google Analytics property with custom dimensions and metrics that Adtoniq will use to record ad block analytics. You will receive page view, event, and metric data into this property for every page view.
  3. Install the Adtoniq Customizer plugin on your WordPress server to customize your DoubleClick and GA accounts.

Here are the details

DoubleClick Setup. Inside your DoubleClick for Publishers system, add an ad unit to your inventory that looks like this:
Then in your Deliver / Orders system, create a new order and put one line item in it that looks like this – make sure to traffic the order in the new ad unit:
Save and upload a new third-party creative and use the following Code snippet:
window.parent.postMessage({adtoniq: ‘adtoniq’, status: ‘unblocked’}, ‘*’);
The Creative screen should look as below. Make sure SafeFrame is disabled just for this one creative..
Make sure to approve and enable everything else necessary to traffic the ad unit on your web site, as you would for any other ad unit. Note: You do not need to modify your website to place this new ad unit on your pages. Our plugin automatically attempts to load this ad unit to determine whether an ad blocker is present. After approving this ad, there is nothing else you need to do from the DoubleClick side.
When you install the Adtoniq WordPress Plugin, you will need to enter your DoubleClick account number and name of the ad unit (e.g. AdUnitChecker).

 Google Analytics Configuration

In your Google Analytics account, create a new property for Adtoniq. In the Admin area, you will need to add custom dimensions and metrics as shown in the screen snapshots below:

 You will need to enter your Google Analytics property ID when you configure Adtoniq.
